Although originally from California, Ms. Noland has performed almost exclusively on the East Coast.

While completing her undergraduate degree at Converse College in South Carolina, she performed the title role in Little Red Riding Hood, along with the roles of Frasquita (Carmen), and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel). She then went on to New England Conservatory where she completed her Masters degree in Voice Performance. In addition to performing in the opera program there, she was extensively involved in the select chamber choir, directed by Simon Carrington, founder of the King Singers.

Ms. Noland has spent three summer seasons at the Seagle Music Colony in upstate New York, where her operatic roles included Susanna (Marriage of Figaro) and Micaela (Carmen), along with various musicals and reviews. Most recently in Charlottesville, VA, she performed the role of Lily St. Regis in the Ashlawn Music Festival’s 2004 summer production of Annie.

During the 04-05 season, Lydia found herself singing with the Shreveport Opera, in their young artist/outreach program titled Shreveport Opera Express, SOX for short. Along with the title role in Barab’s Little Red Riding Hood, and world premiering an interactive show about recycling, titled Why Dinosaurs Don‘t Litter, she also performed through outreach the role of Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone. In Shreveport’s mainstage season, Lydia perfomed the role of Gianetta in Elixir of Love, as well as the Shepherd in Tosca.
